‘I feel like a relic of a world that doesn't exist anymore. For decades, I've moved between places, dividing my sense of home across continents and timezones, and, now that's not possible, my life has basically come to a halt. I very much agree that those social dynamics and nourishment can not be replaced by online versions. I believe, for ecological reasons, too, that the previous levels of wanton travel would have to have been reduced. I now think maybe we lived through the peak of globalisation, and got to enjoy it. And that it will never come back fully to that again. Where that leaves us I don't know. I have to say, I find it super disorienting, like a system collapse.’
